The Birmingham Canal Navigation (B.C.N.)

The Birmingham Canal Navigation (B.C.N.) was to leave the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Aldersley Junction and go through Wolverhampton and Smethwick to Birmingham, a length of twenty-four miles. Interestingly, Josiah Wedgwood was one of the promoters of the canal.

The act to build the Birmingham Canal Navigation was obtained in 1768 and Brindley was made Engineer and Surveyor of the project. The Canal was completed in 1772 a week before Brindley died.
